The Drench Award, presented by Area
of Design, was established in 2002
with the principal goal of encouraging
emerging American artists and designers
to enter their work into an informal
competition with the chance to showcase
their work.
The Drench Award is a leading American
design competition, which honors
excellence in the disciplines of
Branding, Illustration, Packaging,
and Print.
The Drench Award now recognizes
outstanding entries from commercial
firms, students, and non-profit
groups based in the United States.
Over the past six years, the Drench
Award has seen some amazing entries
and we thank everyone for taking
part and submitting such high quality
design work.
Today, we are switching gears by
focusing our attention on the Global
Warming Crisis.
The Drench Award has turned Green...
In 2007,
Area
of Design announced a unique
opportunity to help put an end to
the Global Warming Crisis.
In support of this effort, The Design
Green Project was inaugurated to
give designers and artists an outlet
to participate in a one-of-a-kind
project by being part of the solution,
rather than the problem, of the
Global Warming Crisis. This project,
in summary, is a design competition
and an way to raise money for a
good cause – the
StopGlobalWarming.org
fund. 50% of all proceeds will be
donated to this cause. Additionally,
every entrant will receive a fluorescent
light bulb and a tree will be planted
in their name.
The StopGlobalWarming.org site states
that you can save over 300 Ibs.
of carbon dioxide and $60 per year
just by replacing three light bulbs
with new compact fluorescent bulbs.
From this statement alone, The Design
Green Project hopes to save 150,000
Ibs. of carbon dioxide by giving
away these new light bulbs.
In addition, The Design Green Project
will plant trees for every entry
received, which could save over
2,000 Ibs. of carbon dioxide per
year.
